2. Adding buffer and hazard buffer

STEP TWO — Baseline & Hazard Buffers

What “Buffer” Means

buffer is the minimum safety distance you must keep away from the green edges and hazards when choosing your target distance point.
It protects you from:
  • small miss-hits
  • natural shot dispersion
A buffer makes sure the ball still finishes in a safe, playable position even when the shot isn’t perfect.

A. Baseline Buffer (always apply)

Baseline Buffer = 5% of the distance to the flag

B. Hazard Buffer Add-Ons (Simple System)

Add these fixed values on top of the baseline buffer depending on the hazard closest to your intended target line:

💡

System Rules

1. Calculate the Baseline Buffer

5% of the measured flag distance.

2. Identify the nearest hazard

The one most relevant to your aim line.

3. Add the appropriate Hazard Buffer

+1 / +2 / +3 / +4 yards depending on hazard type.

4. The total = your required buffer (minimum safety margin).
