What “Buffer” Means
A buffer is the minimum safety distance you must keep away from the green edges and hazards when choosing your target distance point.
It protects you from:
- small miss-hits
- natural shot dispersion
A buffer makes sure the ball still finishes in a safe, playable position even when the shot isn’t perfect.
A. Baseline Buffer (always apply)
Baseline Buffer = 5% of the distance to the flag
